After your arrival in Vilanculos, you will be picked up at the airport and welcomed by us and our local guide, who will take you to your accommodation (Baobab Beach or Baraka Beach Lodge). Settle in, enjoy your welcome drink, relax and feel the laid-back atmosphere of this hidden paradise.

In the evening, enjoy a traditional Mozambican dinner.

Today, you’ll discover the local community of Vilanculos on a cultural tour and participate in a culinary workshop, trying the flavours of Mozambican cuisine.

After lunch, enjoy a mangrove trail walk back to your accommodation.

Embark on an unforgettable full-day boat trip. Dive into a forgotten paradise of crystal-clear turquoise waters and colourful reef fish, and if you’re lucky, you might even encounter a sea turtle. We will, of course, provide snorkelling equipment.

Bazaruto is home to the last few dugongs, which live in the seagrass beds. Spotting these gentle sea creatures is always a matter of luck, so keep an eye out!

Lunch will be prepared on the fine, golden-white sandy beach, while you climb the Bazaruto dunes for a breathtaking panoramic view.

There’s plenty of time for walking, sunbathing, or swimming. This is your moment to unwind and fully enjoy the beauty of the Bazaruto Archipelago.

The first half of the day is yours to spend however you wish. The white sandy beach invites you to sunbathe and take a walk. You can visit the local market, small vendors, or restaurants.

In the late afternoon, a sunset cruise is planned. As the sun sets over the Indian Ocean, it bathes the red dunes of Vilanculos in a stunning display of colours.

Tofo is located in the Inhambane Province, near the town of Inhambane. Your day will be filled with a combination of architectural sights from the Portuguese colonial period, a local market and insights into the local healthcare system, schools and churches in the area.

After the tour and the drive, it’s time to relax and unwind, preferably by the infinity pool of Kumba Lodge or with a walk on the seemingly endless beach.

Drive from Vilanculos to Tofo: ~ 4 h
Duration of city tour: 2.5 to 3 h

A fantastic day trip awaits you! You will head towards Barra, an area known for its mangroves and tropical tidal flats – home to numerous tropical juvenile fish. You’ll sail aboard a dhow, a simple, traditional Mozambican wooden sailboat, through a tropical tidal flat to a small village.

Along the way, you’ll stop in the turquoise shallow waters for snorkelling. The shallow marine areas provide shelter for many young reef fish, as well as colourful starfish and sea urchins. Seahorses make their home in the seagrass beds and your guide will show you where to find them.

After snorkelling, enjoy a lavish local lunch in the Mozambican village, followed by a small tour.

The Ocean Safari is your chance to explore the wilderness of the sea. On a two-hour guided boat tour along Tofo’s southern coast, you’ll slowly zigzag in search of whale sharks. Everyone has the unique opportunity to snorkel with these gentle giants.

After a detailed briefing on the wildlife you may encounter and snorkelling behaviour with whale sharks, you’ll board a small zodiac (max. 14 participants) with your guide and skipper to search for large dark shadows and dorsal fins in the water.

Once a whale shark is spotted, the boat stops, and on the skipper’s command, the group will silently slip into the water.
No need to worry – the world’s largest shark has no teeth and often swims at a relaxed pace. The skipper and boat will stay nearby to keep an eye on the group and pick you up wherever you are in the water.

Of course, there’s no guarantee of seeing whale sharks, as this is nature. However, Tofo is one of the few places in the world where whale sharks can be encountered year-round.

Today, you will once again visit the local community with your guide to explore small educational projects in and around Tofo.

Afterwards, there will be plenty of time to enjoy the rest of the day at your leisure, relax, explore Tofo, take a walk along the beach, or perhaps try some surfing.

You will leave the beautiful Tofo early in the morning and head to the Montebello Girasol Hotel in Maputo.

After breakfast, you will embark on a city tour of Maputo before heading to Eswatini. Upon arrival at Hlane Royal National Park, you will enjoy your first safari with a Sunset Game Drive.

Travel time from Maputo to Eswatini: ~ 3h

Your day begins with breakfast followed by a Sunrise Game Drive. In the early morning, you will go on a wildlife-spotting adventure. Afterward, you will visit the Mswati village for a cultural tour, which includes lunch. Later, you’ll be transferred to South Africa and the Kruger National Park.

Travel time from Eswatini to South Africa: ~4 h

You will have a full day of safari activities today. This includes Sunrise and Sunset Game Drives through the park, along with lunch. In the evening, you’ll return to the safari camp for dinner.

Your guide will drive you back to Maputo, taking a route through the park to give you one last opportunity to spot more wildlife. You will spend one final night in Maputo.

Enjoy one last breakfast in Mozambique’s capital before being transferred to the airport for your departure.
