Your Tailor-Made Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival & Welcome in Addo
You land in Port Elizabeth, where our guide John will pick you up and take you to Addo. Your accommodation is a simple guesthouse close to the Addo Elephant National Park.
In the evening, you’ll enjoy a classic “Braai” – grilling over an open fire.
Day 2: Addo to Port Alfred
The Tour starts!
A fantastic day starts with a ride over the Secret Pass, a steep climb through a private reserve full of wildlife. The dirt track is a bit challenging, but well worth the effort. A well-maintained dirt road then takes us to Fort Beaufort, from where we tackle the twists along the edge of the Great Fish River Reserve. We end the day on the Sunshine Coast.
Day 3: Port Alfred to Prince Alfred's Pass
The journey to our next stop takes us along the old Route 62, a beautiful, quiet road winding through farms and pastureland with high mountains on either side.
The main event begins when we leave Route 62 and cross the breathtaking Prince Alfred’s Pass.
The day ends with great food and possibly a beer.
Day 4: Prince Alfred's Pass to Mossel Bay
We head back towards the coast, riding through more wonderful landscapes until we reach Knysna for lunch.
Afterwards, we continue to George, taking the “Seven Passes Route,” a mix of tar and gravel.
From George, we proceed to Mossel Bay, where we’ll enjoy dinner with a view of the ocean.
Day 5: Have a break in Mossel Bay
A day off from riding.
Mossel Bay is a very historic town and an ideal place to relax, walk, eat and drink. It also offers adventurous activities such as shark diving, boat trips or a gin-making course.
Day 6: Mossel Bay to Agulhas
A mix of highways and smaller rural roads, both tarred and gravel, takes us to the southernmost tip of Africa, where the Indian and Atlantic Oceans meet.
Along the way, we have the chance to spot various bird species and antelope. We’ll cross the Breede River on the famous hand-pulled ferry at Malgas.
Day 7: Agulhas to Oudtshoorn
After a hearty breakfast, we head towards the mountains and the spectacular Tradouw Pass, which takes us over the mountain ridge separating the Little Karoo Desert from the coastal Cape.
From Barrydale, we follow a classic riding adventure – Route 62. This road is a combination of straight and winding sections, swiftly leading us through the vast landscapes.
We overnight in the town of Oudtshoorn.
Day 8: Oudtshoorn to Addo
We turn west towards the coast and cross the Outeniqua Pass, a tarred serpentine road descending to the coast.
Next, we ride the entire Garden Route (approximately 400 km, mainly on the old road, not the main highway).
We take in beautiful coastal views before turning inland and returning to our original backpacker hostel amidst the lemon groves of Addo.
Day 9: Departure or Safari
It’s time to say goodbye after an unforgettable experience.
After breakfast (depending on your flight), you’ll be taken in groups back to Port Elizabeth Airport. Alternatively, you can embark on an additional 2-day safari.
Day 9 and 10: Optional Safari-Package
Two days of wildlife adventure, including a safari in Addo Park and cheetah viewing in Mountain Zebra National Park. Includes two additional nights, breakfast, park entry fees, guide, and transfers.
